Bluetooth, J2ME, 802.11 and cheap handheld hardware. The pieces of a truly integrated personal communication network are coming together. This presents new and exciting opportunities to Independent Software Vendors. I believe that appliance computing is the next big market shift. A slowing ecomomy and cheap fast hardware are ripe conditions for growth.
Networked game stations and net radio capable steros are already appearing on the market. Its only natural that other data centric devices like phones and TVs will follow.
